The Incubator
Immerse yourself in design with a hands-on project, and develop technical skills through our workshop series.
Incubator Program
The Incubator is for individuals looking for an immersive and experiential introduction to the socially engaged design process, project development, and project team skills. Teams are formed around real, unmet needs in international communities that are developed from research done by the Incubator directors. Teams work throughout the academic year to address these needs as they are guided through early stages of the design process: user needs, design requirements, prototyping, etc. There will be many opportunities for members to improve their prototypes, present, and offer feedback. Members will develop an understanding of human-centered design, have opportunities to gain mentorship from current M-HEAL project teams, and get exposure to technical skills through the Incubator workshop series. Preparation for future project teams includes CAD/Arduino, networking with project team leads, educational/communication skills, and business skills(grants, pitching). Teams will present their work at both M-HEAL’s mid-year Internal Design review and our end of the year Design Showcase. Incubator members get guaranteed interviews for project teams once they leave Incubator the following semester!
